Uzbekistan and the United States enhance collaboration in nuclear safety
Chairman of the Committee on Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety, Abduvaqqos Rafikov, met with the United States delegation led by Christopher Klein, Senior Advisor for Commercial Competitiveness in Nuclear Energy.
The parties discussed the activities implemented under the FIRST program, aimed at the safe and responsible use of small modular reactor technologies. The successful implementation of the training courses organized for the committee’s staff was noted.

According to the Committee, the parties agreed to continue cooperation to improve the regulatory framework in accordance with international standards and to strengthen the regulatory and control system for nuclear safety. Special attention was paid to safety issues in the use of atomic energy and to the preparation of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries.
The meeting promotes international cooperation in nuclear safety and the introduction of advanced technologies.
