The 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union is currently taking place in Tashkent.
We spoke with Mohammad Reza Majidi, Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, who is participating in this prestigious conference:
– I would like to emphasize that cooperation between the Parliament of Uzbekistan and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly is developing rapidly.
We are focusing on the further development of partnerships, environmental security, the use of green technologies, poverty reduction, as well as improving water supply and environmental protection.
I am very pleased to visit Uzbekistan once again on the occasion of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly. I have previously participated in events held in Tashkent and Samarkand. I can say that each of them was organized at a very high level. Judging by my previous visit, Uzbekistan continues to develop year after year.
The Inter-Parliamentary Union is one of the world’s oldest institutions, and the fact that its anniversary assembly is being held in Tashkent is highly significant – not only for Uzbekistan but for Central Asia as a whole.
This event will play a significant role in the development of diplomacy, Uzbekistan’s foreign policy, and, of course, inter-parliamentary relations. I must note that very few countries in Asia are prepared to host events of this scale.
I highly value the efforts of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as he is making a significant contribution to political and social transformation not only within the country, but also in the region and globally.
