An effective platform for constructive dialogue
A meeting of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, “Women of Central Asia and Azerbaijan: Priority Tasks and Joint Actions”, took place online under Uzbekistan’s chairmanship.
Representatives of the parliaments of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, as well as heads of international organizations, including the United Nations’ regional structures, attended the event.
Opening the event, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva, emphasized that the Dialogue’s authority is steadily growing in the international arena and that it has become an important platform for exchanging best practices and promoting joint initiatives. Within its framework, about 20 important documents were adopted, and a number of practical initiatives were put forward.
The Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian Countries was established in December 2020 at the initiative of Uzbekistan. In 2021, Uzbekistan held the presidency. Over the past five years, meetings have been held in all Central Asian countries.
It was also noted that the participation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia was a key factor in Azerbaijan’s decision to join the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia.

At the event, special attention will be paid to intensifying dialogue between women entrepreneurs and to organizing business forums, to the mutual exchange of legislative practices aimed at protecting women’s rights and interests in member states, and to the effective exchange of experience among parliaments, governments, and civil society institutions.

Within the framework of the Second Asian Women’s Forum, to be held in Bukhara in May, it is planned to organize a forum titled “Women’s Leadership in Science”. The creation of a platform for scientific cooperation and dialogue among women scientists from Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, as well as the implementation of joint research projects and innovative initiatives, will be considered.

Special attention will be given to organizing events to expand the social, economic and political opportunities for young women within the framework of the upcoming 12th Global Forum of Young Parliamentarians in Samarkand.
Important directions have been identified for developing international cooperation, intensifying the exchange of best practices, and summarizing the Dialogue at the end of the year.

The participants expressed views on the need to strengthen regional cooperation, mutual trust, and solidarity, including continued effective cooperation with international organizations.
