2024 has further strengthened Uzbekistan’s position in foreign policy.
Foreign experts, including heads of international organizations operating in Uzbekistan, warmly congratulate Uzbekistan people on the coming 2025. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Uzbekistan Daniel Cristian Ciobanu also sent his congratulations.
– It is an honor and a great pleasure for me to convey my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the people of Uzbekistan, – says Daniel Cristian Ciobanu. – The past year was very successful for Romania’s cooperation with Uzbekistan. Political consultations between our Ministries of Foreign Affairs significantly contributed to developing relations. The key event was the meeting of the Joint Romania – Uzbekistan Commission on Road Transport, at which it was decided to liberalize bilateral road transport. The visits to Romania of delegations of the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan showed that there are ample opportunities for developing cooperation. The visits to Uzbekistan of the heads of the Agency for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Performance of Public Enterprises and the Ministry of Finance of Romania were also successful.
Trade and economic cooperation between Romania and Uzbekistan is developing dynamically. According to the National Institute of Statistics of Romania, the volume of Romania’s exports to Uzbekistan in the first 9 months of 2024 increased by 332.1%, and the volume of Romania’s imports from Uzbekistan – by 168.3% compared to the same period in 2023.
In 2024, Tashkent hosted several exciting events: an exhibition of painting and sculpture dedicated to the great Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncuși, a photo exhibition about the remarkable Romanian composer George Enescu, a screening of the historical documentary film “Maria, the Heart of Romania” and an exhibition of national Romanian and Uzbek costumes.
Representatives of Romania participated in the Tashkent International Jazz Festival – a concert by Petre Ionutescu took place, and in the “Boysun Bahori” (Baysun Spring) Festival, where the Doina Gorjului group demonstrated their skills.
Our main goal for 2025 is to develop and expand mutually beneficial cooperation. The reforms carried out in Uzbekistan open up promising prospects for this. In 2025, we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Romania and Uzbekistan.
The Embassy of Romania in Uzbekistan plans to promote an innovative approach to organizing public diplomacy events. I express my sincere gratitude and deep appreciation to the Uzbek side for the fruitful cooperation! I congratulate the Uzbekistan people on the New Year! May this year bring health, happiness, prosperity, and well-being to every family! May all good dreams and hopes come true! I wish prosperity, fruitful development and mutually beneficial relations to our countries. May 2025 be successful in implementing projects and new plans! May the friendship between Romania and Uzbekistan be eternal!
