
According to the 2025 report prepared by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), Uzbekistan ranked 62nd with a score of 73 points.
This marks an improvement of 19 positions compared to 2024, and since 2015, Uzbekistan has been recognized as a country with sustainable development within the Central Asia and Eastern Europe region.
An online presentation of the report was held recently, with participation from one of SDSN’s co-founders, Columbia University Professor Jeffrey Sachs, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Umid Obidkhodjayev, and other international experts.
According to the Ministry’s press service, the event included a presentation on the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including poverty reduction, strengthening social protection, ensuring food security, developing healthcare and education systems, and supporting digital and green economies.
During his remarks, Professor Jeffrey Sachs emphasized that political leadership is crucial in achieving sustainable development. He also commended Uzbekistan’s progress, describing it as the result of strong political will and effective leadership.
The reforms being implemented in the country, particularly in poverty reduction, were likewise praised by international experts.
As noted in the report, Uzbekistan’s institutional and structural reforms are significantly enhancing the country’s standing in international rankings. Achievements in sustainable development are contributing to strengthening Uzbekistan’s global reputation.
