A delegation led by the Chairman of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abduvakkos Rafikov, is on a working visit to China.
During a meeting with the head of the National Nuclear Safety Administration of China (NNSA), Dong Baotong, prospects for bilateral cooperation were discussed.
Following the talks, the parties signed an interagency memorandum of understanding on cooperation in radiation and nuclear safety regulation.
The document aims to ensure the implementation of the roadmap for improving state oversight in the fields of industrial, radiation, and nuclear safety, as approved by the relevant presidential decree. It provides for the expansion of cooperation between the authorized bodies of the two countries in such priority areas as the development of regulatory infrastructure in the field of nuclear energy, the effective implementation of national programs in this sphere, the development of the regulatory and legal framework, the strengthening of human resource capacity, and ensuring radiation and nuclear safety.
