Cultural diplomacy promotes Uzbekistan’s global image. Thanks to it, not only the country, but also national ideas and cultural values of people become known.

The official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France in October 2018, gave a qualitatively new content to multifaceted Uzbekistan – France relations.

Thanks to the joint efforts of the two countries, twinning relations have been established between Bukhara and Rueil-Malmaison, Samarkand and Lyon, Khiva and Versailles. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of establishment of twin-town relations between Bukhara and Rueil-Malmaison, the first Uzbek Garden in Europe was created in the Park of Friendship in Rueil-Malmaison, and a monument to the great son of the Uzbek land, world-famous scientist born in Ancient Bukhara – Abu Ali ibn Sina was erected on its territory. 

More than 350 people, including official delegation from Bukhara region, representatives of Metropolis of Grand Paris, the Associations of Twin Cities, Parliament, political, business, cultural-humanitarian circles, diplomatic corps attended the opening ceremony of the event.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to France S. Rustambayev, Bukhara region’s khokim U. Barnoyev noted that this historic event became a bright event in strengthening international cultural relations.

A solemn reception was organized in Rueil Malmaison Town Hall, which included performances of Uzbekistan musicians and performers, dance compositions and a fashion show. A photo exhibition “Bukhara is a land of outstanding personalities” by French artist Daniel Hurban, was dedicated to heritage of the great scientist-encyclopedist Abu Ali ibn Sina and introduced visitors with architectural sights of Bukhara, attracting the attention of tourists from all over the world.
