Bukhara to host French Culture Days
Bukhara region’s Hokim Botir Zaripov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Uzbekistan Walid Fouque.
The parties discussed promoting friendly relations between Bukhara and France, elevating cooperation in culture, art, education, tourism, and other areas to a new level, and strengthening mutual understanding and dialogue between peoples.
Special attention was given to hosting the French Culture Days in Bukhara in October 2026. The event will introduce Bukhara residents to France’s rich cultural heritage, including fine and applied art, French music and film, literature, scientific achievements, and examples of contemporary creativity.
The event will also feature scientific conferences, concert programs, exhibitions, film screenings, creative meetings, and open discussions.
The importance of implementing joint projects that reflect the two peoples’ cultural ties, historical heritage, attitudes toward art, and cultural peculiarities was emphasized during the talks. Issues of expanding cooperation in education, creating additional opportunities to learn French, and organizing an exchange of experience among students, young creative figures, and cultural representatives were also discussed.
Unique sights such as the Ark Fortress, the Poi Kalon Complex, and the Labi-Hovuz ensembles, along with ancient architectural traditions and rich cultural heritage, attract French tourists. The possibilities of intensifying cooperation to promote the Bukhara region’s tourism potential in France, attract French tourists to the region, and develop cultural routes and new tourist programs were considered.
During the visit, the Ambassador of France became familiar with the landscaping activities conducted in Bukhara, including the modernization of the administrative center to meet modern requirements, the improvement of the territory, and the infrastructure development of the Bukhara Regional Hokimiyat building.
The Ambassador was briefed on the systematic work conducted in the region to improve people’s well-being, reduce poverty, and lower unemployment.
