Uzbek film draws significant interest in the United States
An important event for Uzbek cinema took place in Washington, where the feature film “Omonatim” premiered, with participation from residents and compatriots.
The screening was attended by members of the Seattle – Tashkent Sister City Association, representatives of the Uzbek diaspora in the United States, and American film enthusiasts.
The film screening became a major cultural event aimed at popularizing Uzbek culture and national values.
First and foremost, the film “Omonatim” captivated viewers with its warm and heartfelt atmosphere. Particular interest was drawn to the fact that the film vividly and extensively reflects Uzbekistan’s historical monuments, unique nature, and national character.
Opening the event, director Abbos Abdullayev spoke about the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan’s film industry in recent years, the new opportunities created for young artists, and efforts to promote national cinema on the international stage.
He also shared the story behind the making of the film “Omonatim” and revealed its central idea. After the screening, a lively and substantive discussion was held with the film’s creators: viewers asked insightful questions about the plot, the characters’ portrayals, and the nuances of the filmmaking process.
Participants in the event also particularly noted the opening of Uzbekistan’s diplomatic mission in Washington, emphasizing that this contributes to strengthening ties with compatriots.
American viewers showed strong interest in Uzbekistan’s cultural and tourism potential and expressed a desire to visit the country.
