Uzbekistan’s chess players successfully performed at the Muscat International Chess Championship 2024 in Oman.

Ortiq Nigmatov, who received the title grandmaster during the games, became the tournament winner, scoring eight points out of nine possible. He won seven times, and there were two draws.

The second place was taken by Mahdi Gholami Orimi from Iran, the third – by Uzbekistan’s Abdumalik Abdusalimov, and the fourth and fifth – by Hamed Vafa and Adham Fawzy from Egypt.

Another chess player from Uzbekistan, Alexey Barsov, took 10th place among 206 players.

Five of the 206 chess players who participated in the tournament did not lose in a single round, while 3 were chess players from Uzbekistan.
