The 150th assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) continues in Tashkent. The forum has brought together parliamentarians from around the world, providing a unique platform for discussing global challenges, strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, and developing joint solutions.

At the event, a correspondent from UzA spoke with Irine Yusiana Roba Putri, a Member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia. The guest expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of Uzbekistan’s efforts in promoting dialogue and parliamentary diplomacy.

“On behalf of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, I would like to express my deepest appreciation and sincere gratitude to the Parliament of Uzbekistan for the warm hospitality and the high level of organization of the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in this vibrant, welcoming, and historically significant city – Tashkent. Uzbekistan has become a remarkable example of openness and a readiness to serve as a center for international dialogue”, the parliamentarian stated.

Irine Yusiana Roba Putri emphasized that Indonesia is proud to be part of this important forum, where representatives of diverse cultures and countries come together in pursuit of shared ideals.

“We are pleased to take part in this assembly and look forward to constructive engagement with our fellow parliamentarians in our shared pursuit of peace, justice, and sustainable development. It is precisely such gatherings that strengthen bridges of trust and foster a collective sense of responsibility for the future of our world”, she emphasized.

In her address, the parliamentarian also drew attention to the tragedy in Myanmar, highlighting the urgent need for international solidarity and support:

“I urge all of us, as members of parliaments, to pay close attention to the situation in Myanmar. The 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck last week claimed the lives of more than 3,000 people. Hundreds remain missing, and tragically, the number of victims continues to rise. In such moments, the suffering of one nation becomes a challenge for all of humanity. As parliamentarians, we must not remain indifferent – it is our duty to demonstrate solidarity, support humanitarian aid efforts, and contribute to recovery initiatives”.
