Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, held meetings with the heads of several international organizations as part of the 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) member states in Geneva.

In particular, during the meeting with the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Tulia Ackson, high praise was given to Uzbekistan’s initiatives put forward at the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in areas such as digitalization, ensuring gender equality, youth policy, and environmental sustainability.

Special attention was given to issues concerning youth and women. The need to implement new programs aimed at the broad involvement of young people in parliamentary activities was emphasized.

The Chairperson of the Senate recalled that the President of Uzbekistan had proposed the idea of creating a global platform for youth parliaments and noted Uzbekistan’s readiness to host the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in 2026.

Tanzila Narbayeva also met with the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong. At the meeting, issues related to enhancing and strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union were discussed.

The parties addressed organizational matters concerning the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians.

An exchange of views also took place regarding the initiative to hold the 3rd Global Forum on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation in the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Uzbekistan.
