The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with heads of international organizations and parliaments in Baku.

Cooperation and upcoming plans were discussed with the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Tulia Ackson, and IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong. The preparations for the 150th Anniversary Assembly, to be held in Tashkent in April 2025, parliamentary control over implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, and special commission’s work in this direction were considered. Special attention was paid to the role of Parliament in creating a social protection system, reducing poverty, and developing an inclusive and creative economy in Uzbekistan.

The Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva also met with the Chair of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova. The parties discussed the cooperation of the parliaments of the two countries and the upcoming tasks. Issues of strengthening ties in ecology and climate and exchanging mutual experience in this area were considered.
