The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, visited the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED).

Ambassador Daniel Cristian Ciobanu delivered a lecture on “Cultural and Public Diplomacy as an Integral Element of Diplomatic Relations” and answered students’ questions.

The event was dedicated to Constantin Brâncuși Day, which is celebrated in Romania on February 19. On this day, the country traditionally honors the birthday of the renowned Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncuși.

Constantin Brâncuși was a pioneer of modernism and one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th century, often referred to as the “patriarch of modern sculpture”.

In his speech, the Ambassador highlighted the dynamic development of relations between Uzbekistan and Romania across various fields, including culture. He provided students with an in-depth overview of Brâncuși’s artistic legacy, showcasing his most famous works, such as “The Endless Column”, “The Table of Silence”, “The Gate of the Kiss”, and “Bird in Space”.

Following the lecture, UWED hosted the opening of a photo exhibition titled “The Art of the Great Romanian Sculptor Constantin Brâncuși”.
