Results of climate commitments implementation presented
A delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by Farrukh Sattarov, Director of the National Climate Change Centre, took part in the third session of the Facilitative Multilateral Consideration of Progress (FMCP3) in Bonn, Germany.
FMCP3 was held during the 64th session of the Subsidiary Bodies of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
During the event, the Uzbekistan delegation presented the results of ongoing work to fulfill national climate commitments, develop renewable energy sources, improve energy efficiency, and strengthen the economy’s resilience to climate risks.
In his speech, Mr. Sattarov emphasized that Uzbekistan views transparency as an integral element of effective climate policy and remains committed to its obligations under the Enhanced Transparency Framework of the Paris Agreement. He noted that climate change has a significant impact on Central Asian countries, exacerbating water scarcity, land degradation, and glacial melt.
At the meeting, special attention was paid to the updated nationally determined contribution (NDC), under which Uzbekistan has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions per unit of GDP by 50 percent by 2035 compared with 2010 levels.
