Tashkent hosted a workshop devoted to determining the amount of carbon dioxide in Uzbekistan’s forests and monitoring it using advanced technologies. The event was organized within the framework of the project “Sustainable forest management in mountain and valley areas of Uzbekistan”.

The project is being implemented by the Forestry Agency under the Ministry of Ecology, Environment and Climate Change in cooperation with FAO and GEF.

The project focuses on monitoring carbon dioxide and exhaust gases in the air using advanced technologies. Issues related to the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed in forestry, control of this process, as well as experience in this regard on a global scale are being studied.

The participants became familiar with the plans for monitoring and quantifying carbon dioxide emissions and sustainable forest management in the mountainous and valley regions of Uzbekistan. The participants were also informed about Uzbekistan’s climate finance initiatives and ongoing measures to assimilate carbon dioxide in Türkiye’s forests.

At the event, experts expressed their opinions and suggestions.
