Uzbekistan's taxi market achieved a turnover of 7.2 trillion soums in 8 months.
According to data from the Tax Committee, a significant trend of growth and digitalization was observed in the country's taxi market from January to August 2026.
Over eight months, 329 million passenger rides were provided through 242 taxi aggregators.
The total turnover amounted to 7.2 trillion soums, with an average fare of 21,785.5 soums. Cash payments accounted for 63.1% (4.5 trillion soums), while non-cash payments made up 36.9% (2.6 trillion soums). For comparison, the share of non-cash payments was 29.8% in 2023, and the proportion of payments via cards and apps continues to increase this year.
The aggregators paid 149.2 billion soums in taxes to the budget, of which 46.8 billion soums was VAT. Currently, 481,100 self-employed drivers are active in this sector.
The 8-month income distribution for drivers was as follows: 7,900 drivers earned more than 100 million soums; 31,500 drivers earned between 50 and 100 million soums; 124,400 earned between 10 and 50 million soums; 59,900 earned between 5 and 10 million soums; 123,600 earned between 1 and 5 million soums; and 133,700 drivers earned up to 1 million soums.
Among both European and local brands, Chevrolet Cobalt (27%), Nexia (19.3%), and Lacetti (16.1%) remain the most frequently used models. Meanwhile, the share of electric vehicles increased from 1.9% last year to 2.5%.
Of the vehicles on the road, 37.1% have been in operation for 3 to 5 years, while 29.2% have been in use for over 10 years.
