The delegation led by the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyar Islamov took part in the First Meeting of Chairs of Supreme Courts “Central Asia-China”, in Urumqi.

The meeting was attended by delegations led by the chairmen of the Supreme Courts of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, as well as the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China.

At the event, the parties focused on large-scale mechanisms for resolving cross-border commercial disputes, law enforcement in the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking, combating corruption and cybercrime, and cooperation between transnational courts.

The tasks of developing information technologies to administer fair and effective justice and strengthen the protection of environmental resources for developing green and low-carbon energy were discussed.

Following the event, a protocol of the Meeting of Chairs of Supreme Courts “Central Asia-China” was signed, covering promising areas for developing comprehensive sectoral cooperation.

During the visit, Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyar Islamov met with the Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group, President and Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Zhang Jun.

The parties noted the potential and opportunities for practical cooperation in the judicial and legal spheres.

Views were exchanged on further developing mutual partnership in justice and improving the judicial system.
