President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the “Sobirjon Yusuf” farm in Khonka district.

The farm is led by 73-year-old Oyimjon Otajanova, who has dedicated over forty years of her life to cultivating seedlings. The farm grows fruit and ornamental trees on three hectares of land, while an additional two hectares are allocated for horticulture. A 12-acre greenhouse is used to grow seedlings of around 40 types of flowers. The greenhouse is equipped with modern water-saving technologies, and each section maintains the appropriate microclimate depending on the plants’ specific needs.

This hardworking woman has also involved her family members in the business. The farm produces and sells over 50,000 seedlings yearly, generating over 1 billion UZS in annual income.

Particularly noteworthy is that the seedlings grown on this farm are supplied to neighboring districts and exported abroad – to Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

The farm is located in Guliston mahalla, home to over 7,000 residents. Mrs. Oyimjon Otajanova has become a role model of hard work for youth and women, actively contributing to employment in the community. She has trained more than 200 students, and 300 unemployed individuals have been taught the fundamentals of seedling cultivation. A cooperative network has also been established with neighboring households in the mahalla.

Demonstrating strong civic engagement and unwavering dedication to her work, the farmer generously donated 2,000 pine seedlings this year to all schools and kindergartens in the district, contributing to the “Yashil Makon” (“Green Space”) initiative and the country’s environmental landscaping efforts.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Employment and a partnering bank, a training center was opened on an adjacent plot of land. Based on the farm’s practices, the center teaches residents how to use household plots to generate year-round income. This initiative supports the growth of entrepreneurship within mahallas and helps families increase their earnings.

In recognition of her contributions, hard work, and exemplary role for the younger generation, the President made the decision to award Oyimjon Otajanova the honorary title of “Honored Agricultural Worker of Uzbekistan”.
