The Embassy of Uzbekistan, together with the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), organized a webinar dedicated to the recovery of the tourism industry in Uzbekistan after the pandemic.
According to the Embassy, the event was attended by about 1,000 representatives of Japanese travel companies.
The participants got familiar with measures taken to resume the reception of foreign tourists, activities to support local enterprises involved in this industry. Information was provided about the ongoing reforms in the tourism industry, a significant increase before the start of the global coronavirus pandemic in the influx of foreign tourists, including from Japan.
The main attention was paid to the development of pilgrimage tourism and an increase in its share in the export of travel services. In this context, it was emphasized that there are Buddhist monuments in Uzbekistan, which can become a new destination for tourists arriving from Japan.
