A delegation led by Faisal Akef Methqal Al-Fayez, President of the Senate of Jordan, visited the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
At a meeting with Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate, the parties discussed issues related to the development of mutually beneficial relations between Uzbekistan and Jordan, including interparliamentary cooperation.
The President of the Senate of Jordan highly praised Uzbekistan for providing shelter to hundreds of Palestinians, ensuring their social protection and humanitarian assistance, and expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the countries of the Middle East.

The sides exchanged views on accelerating trade, economic, and investment cooperation, launching the activities of a joint intergovernmental commission, and establishing a Business Council. The importance of expanding economic projects and creating a favorable investment climate by effectively leveraging the two countries’ existing potential was emphasized.
Particular attention was paid to strengthening cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian, educational, tourism, and religious spheres, as well as in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, and mining sectors.
Emphasis was placed on expanding interaction between the two countries’ parliaments, including the exchange of experience in lawmaking and parliamentary oversight.

It was noted that, in January this year, an interparliamentary cooperation group with the upper chamber of the Jordanian Parliament was established within the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, and that it is important to establish regular dialogue between parliamentary committees within the framework of its activities.
Following the negotiations, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed. This document is intended to facilitate a systematic dialogue between the parliaments of the two countries.
