The 18th Silk Road Tax Forum opens in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan, hosts the 18th Silk Road Tax Forum, bringing together representatives from government agencies, international organizations, the expert community, and the business sector.
The event is organized by the Tax Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the International Tax and Investment Center. The forum traditionally serves as a platform for discussing current tax policy issues and exchanging international experience.
Opening remarks were delivered by Deputy Chairman of the Tax Committee, Jahongir Abdiyev, and by ITIC President Daniel Alan Witt.

This year, delegations from 12 countries are participating in the forum. Among the participants are heads and specialists from tax authorities, international experts, representatives of academia, and the business community.
Key topics of discussion include the transformation of tax administration in light of international experience, the introduction of digital solutions, and the improvement of the efficiency of tax procedures. Particular attention is also being paid to enhancing approaches to administering value-added tax (VAT) and excise tax.

A separate session is dedicated to strengthening dialogue between the state and business, improving the investment climate, and increasing foreign partners’ awareness of Uzbekistan’s tax system and ongoing reforms.
The forum will last two days and will serve as a platform for developing practical solutions and new approaches in tax administration.
