In Stockholm, a presentation on “Samarkand – the Pearl of the Great Silk Road” and negotiations with leading Swedish travel agencies and operators took place.
The event, organized by the Uzbekistan Embassy in Stockholm together with the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek and the Tourism Committee, was attended by representatives of Swedish society, tour operators, journalists, and bloggers, as well as members of the diplomatic corps in Sweden.
Participants were introduced to presentations devoted to the cultural and historical heritage of Samarkand and the tourism and gastronomic potential of all of Uzbekistan. Along with this, concerts, performances of national dances and exhibitions took place.
It was noted that Samarkand, which for centuries has been known worldwide as the “Pearl of the Great Silk Road”, today serves as a venue for regional and global conferences and summits, boasting modern tourism infrastructure and a high level of urbanization.
In particular, it was emphasized that the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, scheduled to be held in Samarkand this year, will once again uniquely showcase the ancient hospitality of the great city and its significant contribution to strengthening mutual trust and dialogue between countries and peoples.
