Uzbekistan and UN Tourism discuss a strategic partnership and joint project development
During a meeting between the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and UN Tourism, the parties identified priority areas to deepen strategic partnership and cooperation.
The high level of current cooperation in the tourism field, as well as Uzbekistan’s status as one of the organization’s most active member states, was noted.
The parties discussed promoting the “Central Asia Tourism Ring” initiative to develop cross-border tourism. It was noted that citizens of more than 60 countries will be able to visit Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan as part of a single trip, laying the foundation for a unified tourism space.

Special emphasis was placed on implementing the International Code for Safe Tourism, an initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In this regard, the parties agreed to hold the 2nd meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee, complete the draft document, and have it reviewed by the organization’s governing bodies. It was also proposed to include the Code on the agenda of the Executive Council. The parties discussed preparations for the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism in 2027, as well as the possibility of establishing a joint working group to coordinate preparatory activities.
Following the meeting, both parties emphasized mutual interest in expanding cooperation and implementing joint projects to develop sustainable and safe tourism in the region.
