New areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and France discussed
The Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilhom Mahkamov held a meeting with a French delegation led by Gérard Wolf, Special Advisor to the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, for Sustainable Cities, and Walid Fouque, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Uzbekistan.
Representatives from Alstom, IVECO, and Dassault Systèmes also attended the meeting.
During the talks, the parties discussed priority areas for developing Uzbekistan’s transport sector. Special attention was given to improving public transportation and introducing multimodal solutions to enhance transport connectivity within and outside cities.
The long-term maintenance and operation of various types of urban transport, the training of local operators and technical specialists, and the formation of a multimodal transport system integrating rail, metro, and road transport were considered separately. This system aims to ensure sustainable and convenient mobility for the population.
In addition, Gérard Wolf highlighted the importance of incorporating decarbonization principles, improving vehicle efficiency, and expanding multimodal transport in developing New Tashkent’s transportation system.
