Muhammadzokhid Suyarov wins a tournament in Germany
Uzbekistan’s young grandmaster Muhammadzokhid Suyarov participated in the classical chess competition at the Grenke Chess Festival 2026 in Germany, which had a prize fund of 285,000 euros, and secured first place.

He finished the 9-round tournament undefeated, with seven wins and two draws. Uzbekistan’s chess player scored eight points and received a prize of 20,000 euros.
Muhammadalі Abdurakhmanov and Humoyun Bekmuratov (6.5 points each), along with Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova (6 points), ranked 94th.
In the Freestyle Open, members of Uzbekistan’s main national team achieved the following results: Nodirbek Abdusattorov (7 points) placed 7th among 317 participants (based on tie-breaks), Nodirbek Yakubboyev and Shamsiddin Vokhidov (6.5 points each) ranked 11th and 18th respectively, while Afruza Khamdamova (5 points) finished in 80th place.
