Consumer complaints are being resolved positively
From January to March of this year, the Federation of Consumer Rights Protection Societies of Uzbekistan received a total of 4,146 complaints from citizens. Of these, 3,962, or 95.6 percent, were thoroughly reviewed and resolved positively.
As a result of the measures taken, more than 27.3 billion UZS were recalculated and recovered for consumers. This figure demonstrates a consistent increase in the effectiveness of complaint handling within the system.
In addition, to protect consumer interests, 86 claims were filed with judicial authorities based on complaints. In accordance with court decisions, compensation totaling 1.4 billion UZS for material and moral damages was awarded to consumers.
Analysis of the complaints showed that the majority relate to public utilities and the trade sector. In particular, 29.3 percent of complaints are related to public utilities, and another 29.3 percent to the trade sector.
In addition, gas supply (8.6 percent), electricity supply (5.3 percent), services (4.6 percent), and water supply (3.7 percent) account for a significant share of complaints. Complaints were also recorded in the areas of communication and internet services (1.9 percent), transport (1.9 percent), and healthcare (1.6 percent). The remaining 14 percent of complaints relate to other sectors.
The Federation of Consumer Rights Protection Societies of Uzbekistan was admitted as a full member of Consumers International in 2018.
