The Program of additional measures for the socio-economic development of districts and cities of Samarkand region, approved by the resolution of the Head of state “On measures for further development of the investment and business environment in Samarkand region and improving the standard of living of the population” of November 29, 2024, provides for the creation of a new stop for the Afrasiyob train.

The Ministry of Transport and the Uzbekistan Railways JSC have been tasked with creating a stop for the Afrosiyob train on the Tashkent – Bukhara route at the Kattakurgan point and the Samarkand – Kattakurgan electric train routes.

A tunnel for transport and pedestrians is being built under the railway passing through the center of Bulungur district. It is planned to be commissioned in 2025.
