
The Parliament of Azerbaijan held the 4th Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network within the framework of the 150th IPU Assembly.
Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Tulia Ackson, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong, as well as representatives of parliaments of other member States of the the Non-Aligned Movement attended the event.

The conference on “Celebrating 70 years of the Bandung Conference: The Role of Parliaments in Supporting the Principles of Bandung” was led by the Chair of the NAM Parliamentary Network, Sahiba Gafarova.
It was noted that the role of the Non-Aligned Movement, which was established to foster relations between states based on the principles of justice, equality, and mutual respect, is growing in international relations.
As an active participant in this movement, Uzbekistan advocates for key principles of its foreign policy, including the non-use of force or threat of force, respect for the territorial integrity of states, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states.

At the conference, Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate, emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation in the context of addressing threats posed by geopolitical instability, climate change, and global economic crises.
As noted, inter-parliamentary initiatives, the creation of joint committees, and active participation in international forums strengthen trust between countries and contribute to the adoption of coordinated decisions at the global level.
The Tashkent Declaration was adopted following the conference.
