The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the International Organization of Turkic Culture, in cooperation with the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, and Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, are planning to hold an international conference in Ankara (Türkiye) on “The Role of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi’s Legacy in the History of Turkic Peoples”.
A discussion meeting was held via videoconference to address the organization of this international event at a high level.
The meeting was chaired by Uzbekistan’s representative to TURKSOY, Shavkat Ortiqov.
It is expected that several scholars from Turkic-speaking countries, who possess strong academic credentials and are extensively researching the historical phenomenon known as the Jadid movement in Turkestan, will participate in the conference with presentations.
It was noted that as part of the event, an exhibition and a theatrical performance dedicated to the legacy of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi will be organized.
It is also expected that a collection of selected works by Mahmudkhoja Behbudi, translated into Turkish, will be published by TURKSOY and presented at the event. This will offer Turkic peoples a valuable opportunity to become more closely acquainted with the legacy of our great enlightener and ancestor.
Several related issues were discussed during the meeting, and further objectives were outlined.
