Ambassador of India visits Namangan region
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan Smita Pant arrived in Namangan region.
At the meeting with the Hokim of Namangan region, Shavkat Abdurazzakov, information was presented on the region’s socio-economic potential, investment opportunities, and conditions for cooperation. The results of cooperation between Uzbekistan and India in investment, information technology, medicine, education, culture, and tourism were noted. In 2025, direct investments from India in the region’s economy amounted to $85 million. There are 2 enterprises operating in the region with Indian capital.
Cooperation in education is growing. Over 150 students from India are studying in higher education institutions in Namangan region.
During the negotiations, it was noted that flights on the “Namangan – Delhi –Namangan” route are scheduled to begin on April 3, which will help promote trade, economic growth, and tourism. Information was also shared about ongoing efforts to implement a cargo system at Namangan International Airport.
Ms. Smita Pant learned about the traditional international Flower Festival, known as a key event in Namangan, and was invited to attend this year’s celebration. She also participated in the Navruz festivities at the Namangan State Pedagogical Institute.
