Hokim of Fergana region Khayrullo Bozorov, as part of his acquaintance with the work carried out in the Sokh district, visited the Sangioyna pilgrimage site, located high in the mountains, in the Surati mountain range.
In the work of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur “Baburname”, it is noted that the great statesman and poet lived on the territory of the Sokh district for about a year during the most difficult period of his reign. Describing the events of 1493, Babur recalls with nostalgia those days when he lived in the mountain village of Sokh. He also describes the Sangioyna area, which means “Stone Mirror”. The name of these places comes from a huge boulder, which had a polished surface and therefore was a kind of mirror.
They say Babur liked to look at it. When he once looked at the stone mirror, he dreamed that he was again sitting on the throne in royal attire and surrounded by courtiers. After that, he went to Kabul, which he subsequently conquered and became its ruler.
The Hokim of the region gave instructions to officials to turn this place into a tourism site.
