A monument to Muhammad al-Khwarizmi opened at Complutense University of Madrid

The opening ceremony of the Monument to the great thinker Muhammad al-Khwarizmi has taken place on the territory of Complutense University of Madrid.

Complutense University is the largest higher education institution in Spain, founded in 1499. It ranks first among the country’s higher education institutions.

The monument is located on the territory of the park between the buildings of the faculties of physics, chemistry and mathematics.

The event was attended by the leadership of the University, representatives of the Spanish scientific community, students and Uzbek compatriots.

In his welcoming address, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Spain Jahongir Ganiyev emphasized that the great thinker and scientist Muhammad al-Khwarizmi made an invaluable contribution to the development of world science with his brilliant discoveries. Today, Uzbekistan pays special attention to education issues, measures have been taken to develop preschool education, which is the foundation of the education system. Concepts for the development of all links of the education system until 2030 have been adopted.

Rector of the Complutense University Joaquin Goyache Goñi noted that the monument to one of the brilliant scientists of all times, the great thinker Muhammad al-Khwarizmi will be located on the Knowledge Square of the University of Madrid, and this is a great honor for the university.
