Youth are active participants in reforms and serve as key partners in shaping public policy
As part of the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with Felipe Paullier, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs and Head of the UN Youth Office.
The parties discussed enhancing cooperation in youth policy and increasing young people’s participation in decision-making.
The sides recognized the importance of collaborative efforts to advance the global youth agenda and ensure young people’s active involvement in public administration.
It was emphasized that Uzbekistan views young people not merely as recipients of state support but as active participants in reforms and key partners in shaping public policy.
The Youth Parliament activities within the Oliy Majlis give young people a chance to participate in debates about the country’s ongoing development agenda.
Significant focus was given to the President of Uzbekistan’s initiative to create a Global Youth Movement for Peace. It was highlighted that promoting this initiative and developing tangible implementation mechanisms, by engaging young parliamentarians and international youth organizations, are necessary steps.
Key cooperation areas include creating structured interaction between the UN Youth Office and the Youth Parliament, increasing the involvement of Uzbekistan youth in UN programs and international events, and launching joint projects in climate action, digital transformation, and the ethical use of artificial intelligence.
