Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea discuss prospects for enhancing cultural cooperation

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan between Advisor to the Minister Shokhrukh Akbarov and a delegation from the Korea Development Institute (KDI), led by Hokyung Bang, Director of the Development Research Division.

The parties discussed the current state of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, prospects for expanding existing ties, and the implementation of new joint initiatives.

Special focus was given to fostering cooperation in culture and the arts, including creative industries, cinema, music, theater, and performing arts. The parties also discussed the possibility of creating direct connections between cultural institutions and increasing exchanges of artists and experts.

Opportunities to study South Korea’s top practices in developing culture and creative industries were also explored. This included adopting modern technologies and innovative methods in the cultural sector, improving specialists’ skills, and launching joint educational and practical initiatives.

Advisor to Minister Shokhrukh Akbarov highlighted Uzbekistan’s interest in deepening cultural connections with the Republic of Korea through concrete projects. He stressed the value of jointly hosting cultural events, facilitating exchanges of artistic groups, executing collaborative cultural initiatives, and enhancing friendly relations between the two nations’ peoples.

Representatives from the Korea Development Institute showed keen interest in Uzbekistan’s key sectors and cultural potential, also indicating their willingness to assist in developing cooperation with Uzbekistan in these fields.

Following the meeting, the parties committed to elevating cultural collaboration between Uzbekistan and Korea, advancing promising joint projects, and steadily enhancing practical interactions between the relevant organizations of both nations.
