Tashkent hosts a masterclass on the common traditions of Azerbaijani mugham and Uzbek maqom
In Tashkent, the Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijani Cultural Center and the Yunus Rajabi Uzbek National Institute of Musical Art organized a masterclass for young performers on “Studying the shared performance traditions of Azerbaijani mugham and Uzbek maqom”.
The participants discussed issues related to repertoire selection, the development of an individual performance style, the challenges of music education, and the preparation of young performers for international performances. The theoretical aspects were accompanied by live musical performances, which demonstrated the practical application of professional knowledge and created a platform for the creative exchange of experience.

Director of the Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Uzbekistan, Akif Marifli, noted that such scientific and cultural projects help strengthen friendly relations, strategic partnership, and cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

Vice-Rector of the Yunus Rajabi Uzbek National Institute of Musical Art, Anvar Norbekov, emphasized that the initiative contributes to the development of international cultural dialogue, the improvement of professional training for young performers, and the scientific study of traditional musical schools.
Following the meeting, the participants expressed interest in continuing joint projects and expanding academic and creative cooperation between the two countries in music.
