Protecting children’s information security is a crucial priority today
The Inspection for Control in the Sphere of Informatization and Telecommunications organized a training session at the National Library of Uzbekistan titled “Children’s information security in the digital age: media responsibility, cybersecurity and ethical standards”.
The event aims to create a safe information environment for children in accordance with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the protection of children from information harmful to their health”.
UNICEF reports that over 175,000 children worldwide access the internet for the first time each day, making children about one-third of all internet users.

The digital environment provides numerous opportunities for education, communication, and personal growth, but it also risks exposing children to various informational threats.
Asadjon Khodjayev, a representative of the Inspection for Control in the Sphere of Informatization and Telecommunications, stated that effective child protection from harmful information requires comprehensive collaboration among media professionals, online platform managers, media experts, educators, and parents.

Throughout the three-day training, participants will explore both the theoretical and practical aspects of legal measures to safeguard children from harmful information. The course will also cover the criteria used to classify information products by age group. Special focus will be given to journalistic ethics, standards for reporting on stories involving children, cybersecurity, fact-checking, and the analysis of visual content.
