Polina Volobuyeva awarded a gold medal at the "Satellite" tournament
Uzbek fencer Polina Volobuyeva claimed the gold medal at the "Satellite" series international tournament in Bangkok, Thailand, after defeating all her opponents.
Athletes from 10 countries participated in the competition. Polina Volobuyeva began the play-off stage with a bout against Chayanutfat Shinnakerdchok, a representative of the host country. Our compatriot, who dominated in the decisive attacks, won with a score of 15:11 and advanced to the quarterfinals.
In the next round against Emma Mika of France, Polina maintained the initiative. A 15:9 victory secured her a spot in the semifinals.
In the match for a place in the final, Ukraine's Dariya Mironyuk put up a serious fight against Volobuyeva. Nevertheless, the Uzbek fencer emerged victorious with a score of 15:11 to reach the final. In the decisive bout for the gold medal, Volobuyeva faced American Vivien Gur and recorded another convincing victory — 15:10.
Thus, Polina Volobuyeva took the top step of the podium at the tournament in Bangkok.
