Dialogue with distinguished guests at the climate forum

As part of the second day of the UN Regional Conference of Youth for Central Asia (RCOY Central Asia 2026) in Samarkand, a dialogue between youth and distinguished guests was organized on the theme "The Role of Regional Youth in Climate and Water Resources Management."

The event was attended by Tanzila Norboyeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis; Felipe Pauler, the UN Secretary-General's First Assistant Envoy on Youth and Head of the UN Youth Office; Ezoza Karimova, Minister of Preschool and School Education; and Alisher Sa'dullayev, Director of the Youth Affairs Agency, who exchanged views with the young participants.

The distinguished guests emphasized that the global focus on youth issues, the problems arising in certain regions, and the activism and initiative of young people in these circumstances are more important than ever. In particular, they noted the significance of young people's perspectives in addressing the risks and threats posed by climate change. Additionally, the dialogue highlighted the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, currently being held in Samarkand, and the topics under discussion there.

A regional youth statement was presented as part of the event.

During today's conference sessions, pressing issues such as climate change, water scarcity, desertification, melting glaciers, green innovations, and sustainable development were discussed. Practical initiatives and solutions from youth on combating climate change and ensuring the rational use of water resources were also considered.

As a reminder, the conference was organized in partnership with the Youth Affairs Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, the National Social Protection Agency, the "Zamin" International Public Foundation, and UNICEF. It is being attended by over 100 young people, experts, and representatives of international organizations and government agencies from Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Turkey.
