Uzbekistan and Belarus expand cooperation in technical regulation
To expand cooperation in standardization, technical regulation, metrology, and conformity assessment, an online meeting was held with representatives of the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation and the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus.
At the meeting, the parties thoroughly reviewed the implementation of decisions adopted at sessions of the Uzbekistan – Belarus Intergovernmental Commission, the execution of agreements reached at the highest level, and the prospects for cooperation in areas of strategic importance to both countries.
The parties noted that trade and economic ties have grown steadily in recent years.
In particular, by the end of 2025, mutual trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Belarus increased by 25 percent, reaching almost $1 billion. In January-March of the current year, trade turnover grew by almost 50 percent to $259.7 million, indicating the consistent development of economic relations between the two countries.
During the dialogue, the results of investment cooperation were also discussed. To date, 245 enterprises with Belarusian capital operate in Uzbekistan, while 110 enterprises with Uzbek capital operate effectively in Belarus.
In addition, it was emphasized that the portfolio of joint projects between the two countries totals $341 million.
Views were exchanged on improving existing technical regulations, taking into account international experience. The main focus was on revising the technical regulation governing the safety of low-voltage equipment. Prospects for expanding cooperation in the certification of electrical products were also discussed.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to comply with the agreements reached within the established timeframes and expressed their intention to continue and deepen their cooperation.
