Uzbekistan ranks among Japan’s top five prune suppliers
Uzbekistan has become one of Japan’s five largest suppliers of prunes and ranks among its top ten raisin exporters.
To expand trade and economic cooperation, representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan held a meeting in Osaka with the management of Kurosimo Inc.

The company imports black raisins, almonds and walnuts grown in Uzbekistan, processes them and sells the finished products on the Japanese market under the “Gift from Silk Road” brand. The products are available at Kintetsu Department Store, one of Japan’s largest department store chains, and are in high demand.
Entering the Japanese market requires compliance with five key food safety and quality requirements.
Under Japan’s Positive List System, pesticide residues in food products must not exceed established limits. Laboratory testing, compliance with phytosanitary requirements, packaging and labeling regulations, and import procedures are also mandatory.
A recent announcement by the Food Safety Committee highlighting Uzbekistan’s achievements indicates that Uzbek products meet the established requirements.
