Samarkand State University holds a respectable position in the QS rankings
Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov ranked between 251 and 300 in the Modern Languages category, according to the results of the best universities’ rankings in the world – QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
It should be noted that this result was made possible by the work of scientists from the Institute of Languages and Culture of the Peoples of Central Asia, which operates within the university.
Currently, the institute has five faculties and ten departments, with 167 local and 25 foreign professors and teachers. They instruct 1,850 students in Uzbek, Tajik, Russian, English, and Turkish.
Over the past two years, the institute’s staff has published more than 100 scientific articles in Scopus-indexed journals, and employer estimates and QS survey results have also reported high publication rates.
The institute’s team aims to reach the top 300 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject for Linguistics by the end of 2026.
