Berita RTM highlights Uzbekistan as a growing hotspot for pilgrimage tourism
Malaysia’s Berita RTM aired a special program highlighting Uzbekistan’s tourism prospects, with a focus on pilgrimage tourism and the country’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
The project “Uzbekistan – Malaysia: Creative tourism”, developed by professors at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Badrul Bin Isa and Norfadilah Kamaruddin, was showcased on air.
The initiative is being carried out in partnership with the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, and the Islamic Civilization Center.
The project aims to create and promote digital content about Uzbekistan’s tourism opportunities in a Visual Storytelling format.
As part of the initiative, a team of Malaysian professional photographers and designers will conduct photo shoots in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khorezm from August 17 to 31.
The photo and video materials will be distributed across popular digital platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
Special attention will be paid to Uzbekistan’s historical heritage, pilgrimage tourism sites, national culture, and modern developments in the tourism sector.
Students from universities in Uzbekistan studying in the fields of design, art, tourism, and hospitality will also take part in the project. The joint work is expected to serve as a platform for exchanging experience between Uzbekistan and Malaysian specialists in the academic, tourism, and creative spheres.
According to Professor Badrul Bin Isa, the project aims to broaden understanding of Uzbekistan among residents of ASEAN countries and the Muslim world and to showcase the country through modern digital formats.
The initiative is expected to promote Uzbekistan’s tourism brand in ASEAN countries, popularize pilgrimage tourism, and increase tourist flows.
