Development of sustainable tourism in the Aral Sea region under discussion
A public dialogue was held in Nukus to address sustainable tourism development issues and to announce the winners of the business idea contest held as part of the “Youth and Women – Permanent Ambassadors of Tourism in Karakalpakstan” project.
The event, organized by the DMO Karakalpakstan Public Association, was attended by representatives of the hokimiyats of the city of Nukus and the Khojayli district, departments for family and women, the Youth Affairs Agency, chairpersons of mahalla citizens’ assemblies, representatives of the tourism industry, public organizations, and the media.

The participants discussed the project “Youth and Women – Permanent Ambassadors of Tourism in Karakalpakstan”, which is carried out by DMO Karakalpakstan with support from the European Union, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and the “Yuksalish” nationwide movement.
The results of the training sessions and the business idea competition were considered. The importance of supporting youth and women’s initiatives to develop sustainable tourism in the Aral Sea region was emphasized.
The participants discussed prospects for further cooperation among government authorities, business, and the public to increase the region’s tourist attractiveness.

The best business ideas from the project participants, along with developments aimed at developing Karakalpakstan’s tourism potential, creating new tourism products, supporting local entrepreneurship, and introducing modern approaches to tourism, were presented.
Following the meeting, the winners of the business ideas competition received diplomas and memorable gifts.
