AI capacity has increased

The Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, met with Richard Stirling, CEO of Oxford Insights and author of the Government AI Readiness Index.

The parties discussed the results of Uzbekistan’s cooperation in AI. It was noted that over the past two years, the country has risen 25 positions in the Government AI Readiness Index. The sides reviewed the main outcomes of cooperation under the 2024-2026 program. It was emphasized that strategic documents have been developed in areas such as the use of AI in the public sector, ethical principles, public procurement, data exchange, the development of the GovTech Hub, and sector regulation.

During the meeting, the next stage of cooperation was discussed, namely the practical implementation of the results achieved and their institutionalization. It was noted that at this stage, the main focus will be on expanding the adoption of technologies in the public sector and strengthening human capacity.

Opportunities were also considered to engage Oxford Insights’ local office in establishing systematic cooperation with government bodies.
