Uzbekistan and South Africa expand trade-economic cooperation
The Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, held a videoconference with the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition of the Republic of South Africa, Parks Tau.
The parties discussed expanding trade, economic, investment, and industrial cooperation, as well as prospects for implementing joint projects in priority sectors.
Special attention was given to preparing a business mission of about 50 Uzbekistan companies to Johannesburg this fall and to holding targeted B2B meetings with representatives of South African businesses.
The parties also discussed establishing an Intergovernmental Commission, preparing trade and investment protection agreements, and starting work on a Preferential Trade Agreement.
Following the talks, the parties agreed to continue developing joint initiatives and build a portfolio of promising projects.
