Prime Minister of India visits the Centre for Indian Studies in Tashkent
The Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi, who is on a state visit to Uzbekistan, visited the Centre for Indian Studies named after Mahatma Gandhi at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
The distinguished guest was accompanied by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.
The guests were briefed on the Centre’s activities focused on the study of India’s history, philosophy, language, and socio-political development. The Centre operates a Hindi Speaking Club, where students improve their Hindi communication skills. In addition, the academic institution regularly hosts international conferences, seminars, and lectures by foreign scholars.
It was highlighted that cultural, humanitarian, and educational connections are key components of bilateral relations, alongside political and economic cooperation. The Indian delegation observed Uzbekista’s keen interest in learning Hindi and exploring Indian culture.
It was noted that such centers play an important role in strengthening the historical and spiritual ties between the two peoples and in bringing academic cooperation to a new level.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi left a message with his wishes in the Centre’s Book of Honored Guests.
Following the visit, Narendra Modi posed for a commemorative photograph with faculty members, Indologists, researchers, and students.
