A young citizen of Uzbekistan, Zinnura Karimova, a 4th grader of Volgok Elementary School, became the winner of the XII National Bilingual Speech Contest in Seoul.

Fifty-two participants from different cultures competed in the competition, telling their stories in 16 languages. Their performances, including the 10-year-old Zinnura, highlighted the international importance of this event.

Her sister Laziza Karimova also participated in this competition in 2023 and took second place. In her speech, she expressed her intention to develop international management and translation activities, emphasizing the importance of global communication. Laziza became the first Uzbek girl to speak Uzbek, which became a historic event.

Zinnura and Laziza Karimovas’ victories were noted as significant success for Gwangju and Jeollanam-do. They glorified their names and represented Uzbek culture on the international stage thanks to their achievements and knowledge of Uzbek and Korean languages.

The sisters’ achievements are actively discussed on social media and highlighted on various Internet resources in South Korea.
