World Bank study findings discussed in Khorezm
Khiva hosted an international event focused on the findings of the World Bank study titled “Uzbekistan poverty and equity assessment: rising to prosperity and broadening opportunities for all”.
The event covered analysis of the Social Registry, targeted measures to help families achieve sustainable incomes, regional experience, results at the mahalla level, and priorities for the next phase of poverty reduction efforts.
Marat Jurayev, First Deputy Minister of Poverty Reduction and Employment, Anvar Davlatov, First Deputy Hokim of Khorezm region, and Ambar Narayan, Practice Manager at the World Bank, addressed the event.
The event featured measures for regional development in Khorezm region, implementation of the “From Poverty to Prosperity” program, and efforts to expand employment opportunities in mahallas, along with key findings from reports by senior World Bank economists.
Particular attention was paid to assessing each family’s circumstances, accurately identifying the causes of poverty, and creating an appropriate source of sustainable income through permanent employment, vocational training, entrepreneurship, self-employment, or organized labor migration.
The participants exchanged views on the study’s key findings, regional experience, and future priorities.
