About 20 countries have already confirmed their participation in the II CIS Games, to be held on August 4-14 in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, the Head of the National Teams Department and President of the Belarusian Modern Pentathlon Federation Mikhail Prokopenko reported in the BelTA project “The Country Speaks”.

– Probably, one of the striking distinguishing features of the II CIS Games from the first is that they are open, – he said. – And in addition to the countries representing the CIS, we will have a sufficient number of other states that have expressed a desire to participate in this multi-sport event. I don't want to specify and dwell on some individual countries – you will all see them. About 20 countries have already confirmed their participation today. And we very much hope that this figure will increase.

According to him, there could have been more participants, but some countries need some help with logistics.

“And, of course, I would like not to offend everyone who wants to participate in our games”, said the head of the department.

– As of today, more than 2 thousand athletes have already registered in the accreditation system, – Mikhail Prokopenko added. – The figures are changing because some countries are being asked to add to the list within the framework of the regulations. By the end of the week, we will summarize and announce the final figures that will allow us to draw all the conclusions. However, we have everything ready for volunteers, places of residence, and food.

The II CIS Games will be held in 11 cities of Belarus in 20 sports. The opening and closing ceremonies of the competition are planned to be held on August 5 and 13.
